COURSE DESCRIPTION:
In addition to a myriad of challenging exercises both solo and group oriented, you will learn how to get the best results from yourself and within an ensemble to create music improv that is both fun and appealing to a paying audience. There will be individual feedback given on both scene work and musicality. And as always, we will cultivate a group mind, being present for each other as we support our efforts to do our best work.
Veteran Vintage Vinyl Cast and well aspiring new ensemble members practice with Dave and perform at 8 pm the same day. Post show debrief included.
Dave Asher, serves as both the teacher and the piano player. He’s been improvising, on stage, in front of a class, and behind the keys for over 20 years, and was honored by iO in 2015 as Improvisor of the Year, working as the theater’s resident Music Director (a position he’s held since 2007, having now played piano for literally thousands of shows.) He’s also been teaching both regular and musical improv during that time, including launching iO’s 3 Level Musical Improv Program in 2015.
