Our annual Vintage Improv Festival for adults of all ages is a seven-night fall retreat on a beautiful 32-acre oceanfront campus on the coast of southern Maine. The Ferry Beach Retreat & Conference Center is an idyllic setting where improvisers gather to learn from a talented international faculty.
This week-long improv retreat experience is filled with improv workshops, intensives, and performances, plus fun on the sand volleyball court, communing at the fire pit, and of course, the beach! Wake up near the sea and take an early/late walk. Eat healthy, delicious food – all you can eat. Relax in a friendly environment, enjoy the camaraderie, and make wonderful new memories. Your non-improv guests are welcome too!
Registration deposits are now open. Early bird specials until May 31 will save you $30 on food and give you a $75 credit toward a longitudinal intensive with your favorite faculty member. We will provde you with a personal bill for the remainder due and work with you regarding a payment strategy that meets your personal needs.

Basic Festival Package
Includes all core festival workshops and 1 curated team, all festival programming, shows, and activities, a shared space in a double occupancy dorm-style room with shared camp-style bathrooms, plus all the food you care to eat. Meals and lodging start with dinner on October 3 and end with lunch on October 9.

Optional Upgrade Packages – Get to your Improv Nirvana
You help us shape the festival to meet your interests. By committing to special options, VIF makes the Festival become something very special and unique. All optional packages have fully refundable deposits until you accept the options we offer. Then the rules of your particular ticket type (refundable or not) take precedence.
Upgrade to add intensive(s): We are planning an amazing list of extra longitudinal intensives that run over several days. None of these happen during regular festival programming. Optional longitudinal intensives will average $300 for a 10-hour intensive. Examples: Jonathan Pitts will offer The Oracle and Tom Tollenaere will offer the 2023 Vintage Vinyl. There will be others as well. Early Bird gets $75 discount for the first intensive if you register by May 31 2023
- Upgrade to add 1-2 curated team(s): Additional curated team = $100
- Upgrade Lodging: Single occupancy or premium lodging costs $250 or more per person for the entire festival period. The retreat center has multiple buildings with differing costs. If you do want a single room or lodging outside of the dorm accommodations in the Basic Package, then opt for a lodging upgrade and details will follow.
- Non-Improv Guests – Bring a friend! Guests who do not participate in the workshops and intensives are welcome to attend. Pricing TBD.
- Upgrade to Extra Time at the Retreat Center: Early Bird can arrive before or stay after the Festival for a room and board fee.

Everyone pays a 25% nonrefundable deposit to register for the Basic Package.

What happens if VIF cancels the Fest for some unforeseen reason?
It is incredibly unlikely that VIF would be canceled but if the Pandemic taught us anything it is that we don’t always have control! So of course, if something unforeseen occurs and the festival must be canceled, all ticket holders will receive a 100% refund of the festival fees collected.
What is the VIF policy on Covid?
Our preventCOVID protocol allowed us to be 100% Covid free after the festival last year. VIF requires proof of the Covid Vaccination series as well as any updates in terms of the booster schedule recommended by the CDC as of Sept. 1, 2023. We will send the preventCOVID protocol as the festival draws closer.
Although we do not require proof of documentation of the flu vaccine, we highly recommend our participants get one by the first week in September 2023 so it will have its maximum effect.
* About the Refundable Ticket
The refundable ticket allows a no-hassle ‘cancel for any reason’, but does have a 25% non-refundable portion based on your total confirmed order. We calculate your total festival services selected, including the basic festival package plus any confirmed additional packages and lodging. VIF keeps 25% of that total regardless of how much you have paid, plus the administrative fee in effect at the time we receive your email notification. This option allows for reducing a significant amount of yur financial risk, even if youhave to make a lst minute change.
Your refundable ticket allows you to send a written cancellation request to [email protected] at any point up until noon Eastern (New York) Time on October 3, 2023. Refunds are typically sent within one week.
