Puppetry 101 : Sock Puppetry Basics with Sam Locke
Description:
Sam will guide the performers through a basic introduction to hand puppetry, as well as how to build a basic sock puppet for performance purposes. The performers will add features such as eyes to their puppets, and in the second half of the intensive, Sam will guide them through character exercises using improv to create characters and personalities for their creations.
Materials:
Ping Pong Balls
Felt ( Multiple colors)
Hot Glue if possible
Double sided Tape
Socks
Rubber bands
Poster board or similar thickness

Sam Locke is a puppeteer and improviser who currently works as a Resident Director at The Annoyance Theater and teaches classes for the theater’s training program and has led workshops in both improvisational acting and puppetry all over the country.
